ARKANSAS GOVERNOR'S MANSION SHINES BRIGHT FOR DIWALI 2025 CELEBRATION IN LITTLE ROCK
LITTLE ROCK, AR — The Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock came alive on November 4, 2025, in a dazzling celebration of Diwali — the Festival of Lights. The event, hosted by the Indian community of Little Rock, symbolized the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, and honored Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and well-being.
The Governor's Mansion was adorned with glowing lamps (diyas) and colorful rangoli designs, creating an atmosphere of warmth, unity, and joy. Guests enjoyed a delectable luncheon featuring authentic Indian delicacies while local doctors, teachers, scientists, bankers, business owners, and Indian-American community leaders presented a showcase of Indian culture and tradition.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders received a special award from Arkansas Indian diaspora in recognition of her support for cultural exchange and inclusivity. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the 47th Governor of Arkansas. Inaugurated on January 10, 2023, she is the first woman to serve as Governor of the state. During her remarks, Governor Sanders said: “It’s no accident that Diwali, the Festival of Lights, happens when the days are getting short. It was an honor to host our second Diwali celebration at the Governor’s Mansion today. It’s a reminder that while we live in a broken world — light is always more powerful than darkness.” The Governor highlighted the importance of cultural collaboration and the impact of the Indian community on Little Rock and Arkansas.
The Consul General of India (Houston, Texas) also joined the celebration, emphasizing how Indian companies contribute significantly to the economies of Arkansas and the United States.
